Grades K- 5 in the Berkeley, CA 94707

The German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) has successfully started a satellite campus serving Grades K through 5 in the greater Berkeley Area. The school started with a Kindergarten class in August 2007 from there on one grade will be added each year to build the campus out to a full K through 5.

The GISSV East Bay campus started out as a parent-lead task force group in 2005. Parents had identified a large market of families interested in German-English bilingual education in the East Bay. At that time, there were no schools offering a German-immersion program for grades K-12 anywhere in the East Bay. The task force teamed up with the existing German International School in Silicon Valley, jointly embarking on this venture of opening a new GISSV East Bay campus as an extension of the existing K-12 school in Mountain View.

As a satellite campus, the GISSV East Bay campus, shares the same bilingual and educational philosophy, curriculum guidelines and student-to-teacher ratios as the parent school in Mountain View. It also meets the strict accreditation requirements of the German government, enabling seamless entry into the German and European educational systems. By meeting German and American requirements the students will be prepared towards the bilingual German International Abitur as well as a California High School Diploma.

As a true German-English immersion program, the school targets students from German and non-German speaking families and any families interested in a high-quality bilingual education in the East Bay.
