For the upcoming school year 2010/11 our GISSV Berkeley Campus has openings for boys and girls entering Kindergarten or Grades 1-3.

The GISSV Berkeley Campus opened in August 2007 with its first Kindergarten Class. From there onward, an additional class will be added each year to build out to a complete K through grade 5. By 2012 we will have reached the first phase of our strategic expansion with classes from kindergarten through fifth grade.

With a low student-to teacher ratio, even as the school grows to capacity, there will be fewer than one hundred students, keeping the school a small and welcoming community for East Bay families. Possibilities to extend the school to grade 8 are under discussion. 

Play is the basis of all learning in GISSV’s kindergarten. We believe a child develops his/her cognitive, social, emotional abilities and his/her motor skills through intensive and undisturbed play. We offer age-appropriate educational projects. Children may apply acquired concepts in their play. Our goal is to develop creativity, cognitive skills, sense of responsibility, perception and awareness, language skills, independence, physical self-awareness, and social skills.

Our school opening hours are from 8:30am to 2:00pm. We also offer an afternoon program until 5:30pm.
