The GISSV Berkeley Campus is located in the heart of Berkeley, California, nestled in the leafy Berkeley hills. In 2012 the school has moved its East Bay campus from Kensington to the landmark Hillside School. The German International School of Silicon Valley has agreed to acquire the national landmark site after 86 years owned by the public school system. 

GISSV's Berkeley Campus first opened in August of 2007, after a parent-led task force identified a number of families interested in a German-English bilingual education in the East Bay. The parents teamed up with the existing German International School in Silicon Valley and jointly embarked on opening a Berkeley campus as an extension of the existing K-12 school in Mountain View. 

As a satellite campus, GISSV Berkeley shares the same educational philosophy, curriculum guidelines and student-to-teacher ratios as the parent school in Mountain View. GISSV adheres to the strict accreditation requirements of the German government, while offering high school students both a California high school diploma and a certificate of completion of the German International Abitur program. This fully bilingual approach helps enable seamless entry into both the American and European educational systems.
