GISSV Class of 2018
GISSV Class of 2018

Our 19 graduates proudly received their dual diplomas and celebrated their farewell from GISSV.

After three days of oral exams at the end of May, preceded by written exams earlier this year, our 19 graduates received their dual high school degree on Saturday, June 2, at the German Consulate General San Francisco: the German International Abitur (DIA) and the American High School Diploma. This dual degree is a distinct feature of GISSV, enabling our graduates to qualify for admission to universities in the U.S., Germany and other European countries.

The average score for the German International Abitur at GISSV this year is 2.1 (for comparison: the average score in Germany was 2.4 in 2017). These are great results—for our students, our teachers and our school. Congratulations and kudos to our graduates for this achievement!

In addition to the ceremony and reception at the German Consulate General, the graduation was celebrated with GISSV's festive "Abiturball" at the Santa Clara Marriott.

On Monday morning, the graduates rounded out the festivities and bid their farewell to the school community with a humorous senior prank ("Abistreich"), which included a curious "make over" of the Mountain View campus and games where homeroom teachers had to compete against students.

Enjoy photos of all three events below. To our graduates, congratulations once again and our very best wishes for your future! We hope to hear from you often.
