6th Graders Shine at German Reading Competition

Students from both campuses showcased creativity and skill in this year’s German reading contest—congratulations to all participants!

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our 6th graders from both campuses in this year’s German reading competition Vorlesewettbewerb 2025/26!

The final round was a vibrant celebration of storytelling, full of humor, excitement, and thought-provoking narratives. Each student captivated the jury with their choice of text and remarkable reading skills, showcasing both creativity and a genuine love of reading.

After careful deliberation by the jury—including our Head of Middle School (Grades 5–7), the school librarian, a previous finalist, and our Student Body President—the first-place winner was selected to represent GISSV in the next round of the competition. Nila B. (SF 6th Grade), who read an excerpt from Pia, Poppy und der verschwundene Professor, a story about a girl moving from Germany to San Francisco, will now compete against students from German schools across North America.

A huge congratulations to all our 6th graders! Your dedication, imagination, and passion for reading inspire us all.
