GISSV and its Saturday School united the Bay Area German community for a memorable hockey night at the San Jose Sharks' SAP Center.
On Saturday, April 5, GISSV and GISSV’s Saturday School took the lead in organizing Sharks German Night at the iconic SAP Center in San Jose, bringing together families, staff, and friends from across the Bay Area German community.
The evening featured an exciting matchup between the San Jose Sharks and the Seattle Kraken. While the Sharks ultimately came up short, the spirit in the GISSV section remained strong. Fans cheered, waved signs, and celebrated being part of both the hockey and German cultural community.
It was Fan Appreciation Night at the SAP Center, and the surprises didn’t stop there. Sharkie, the Sharks’ beloved mascot, made his way to the GISSV section, much to the delight of children and adults alike.
After the final buzzer, the celebration continued with a special invitation for all GISSV attendees to step onto the ice for a group photo—a unique way to end a night full of fun, connection, and community spirit.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—we’re already looking forward to the next one!
