About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

A Principal for a Day: Ella Steps into School Leadership

Grade 6 student Ella got a behind-the-scenes look at school leadership as GISSV’s “Principal for a Day.”

What an unforgettable experience for Ella (Grade 6), our GISSV Auction winner, who stepped into the role of “Principal for a Day” last Friday—thanks to her family’s generous bid!

Ella joined a number of meetings throughout the day, including the Mountain View Parent Association meeting, where she helped present the Head of School update. She also participated in the Audit Committee session and a staff meeting, gaining insight into the many aspects of running a school and making her voice as a student heard.

Our Head of School shared their appreciation for Ella’s thoughtful contributions:
“My personal highlight was definitely my day as Ella’s assistant. As ‘Principal for a Day,’ she brought the student perspective into every meeting—from the PA meeting to the Audit Committee and the staff gathering—and was warmly welcomed everywhere. Thank you, Ella, for your refreshing support!”

It was a memorable day that gave Ella a chance to connect with members of our community and explore school leadership from a new perspective.
