Students Learn from Industry and Research Experts

During AI Week, GISSV’s Grade 10 students explored both the technical and societal dimensions of artificial intelligence with guest experts from industry and academia.

As part of GISSV’s AI Week, our Grade 10 students had the opportunity to engage with two experts working at the intersection of technology, research, and society.

Matthias Grundmann, Research Director at Google, introduced students to the concept of “vibe coding,” demonstrating its possibilities through self-written prompts and interactive games. His session offered a hands-on look at creative approaches to working with AI.

Dr. Raphael Fischer, Postdoc AI & Sustainability Researcher at the Lamar Institute / TU Dortmund University, focused on sustainability in AI and other societal considerations that should be taken into account when developing AI-powered applications. Through a presentation and discussion, students were encouraged to think critically about the broader impact of AI technologies.

These sessions provided valuable insights into both the technical potential of AI and the responsibility that comes with developing and using AI-driven tools.
