About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

  Our well-balanced program provides rich project-based and differentiated learning experiences, fostering interests across all subject areas as well as social-emotional competency, critical thinking, artistic expression and physical motor skills.

The 2026/27 school year is off to a great start! From last Friday’s Meet & Greet events to the first day of school, our GISSV community came together to welcome new and returning families, reconnect with friends, and kick off the new school year.

A wonderful start to the new school year!

The 2026/27 school year is officially underway — and what a wonderful way to begin!

Our Back to School celebrations started last Friday with our Meet & Greet events on both campuses. New and returning families came together to meet teachers, reconnect with friends, explore classrooms, and get ready for the year ahead. For many of our students, one of the best parts was simply being back together and seeing their friends again!

Then, on Monday, August 17, most of our students from Kibili through High School returned to campus for their first day of school. Classrooms and hallways quickly filled with energy, excitement, and lots of smiles as students settled into their new routines and began the year together.

Across both campuses, teachers and staff prepared special activities to make the first day engaging and memorable. From our youngest learners to our high school students, each division found its own ways to welcome students and build community.

For example, our Middle School students in Mountain View kicked off the year with team-building activities in class and mixed-grade teams. Students took on a variety of challenges, including an Egg Drop Challenge, putting their creativity, communication, and teamwork to the test. After all that hard work, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream!

Meanwhile, our Middle School students in San Francisco headed to Dolores Park for a small outing and some time together outside the classroom.

And these are just a few snapshots of the many activities taking place across our campuses. The first days of school are an important opportunity to reconnect, welcome new members of our community, build relationships, and create a strong foundation for the year ahead.

We’re so happy to have our students and families back at GISSV and are looking forward to a year filled with learning, discovery, growth, and memorable moments.
