Children’s author Ulrike Kleinert shares her story with GISSV Kibili students, sparking creativity through storytelling workshops.
GISSV recently welcomed children’s author Ulrike Kleinert, who visited our Kibili students (Preschool and Kindergarten) while on a family trip to California. As a special treat, Kleinert shared Bella Ball’s Path to the Clouds, a picture book that began as a creative kindergarten project in Bremen with support from Literaturhaus Bremen and is now found in bookstores and libraries worldwide.
The original project aimed to build a love for reading among multilingual young readers. Bella Ball’s story brought creativity to life at GISSV as nearly forty young students joined in, imagining their own ways for Bella to reach the clouds. They sent Bella on playful journeys by rocket, trampoline, airplane, flying car, and even a rainbow!
Kleinert’s visit reminds us that stories like Bella’s cross cultures, connecting young readers wherever “home” may be and inspiring imaginations to reach for the skies.
