About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

Celebrating Reading: Bundesweiter Vorlesetag 2025

Both GISSV campuses joined the nationwide German Reading Day, bringing stories, curiosity, and joy to students of all ages.

Last week, GISSV celebrated the Bundesweiter Vorlesetag (German Reading Day) across both campuses. Classrooms were filled with stories, laughter, and excitement as students shared the joy of reading.

At the San Francisco campus, the celebrations highlighted the 6th-grade Vorlesewettbewerb, an internal reading competition where class winners compete to become the campus champion. This year’s winners visited Kibili and Elementary groups to read their chosen texts, inspiring younger students and fostering a love of storytelling.

Meanwhile, in Mountain View, Elementary students selected their favorite picture books to read aloud to the Kibili classes on the official Vorlesetag 2025. These reading sessions created warm, joyful moments and encouraged younger learners to explore new stories.

A heartfelt thank you to all our student readers for bringing their stories to life and making this year’s reading celebration so memorable!
