Class 7b Explores the Pipe Organ

Class 7b Explores the Pipe Organ

Mountain View’s 7th graders experienced the mechanics, history, and music of the pipe organ firsthand in an engaging Orgelkids workshop.

Last Friday, our Class 7b students in Mountain View had the unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of pipe organs through a hands-on workshop led by organists Jörg Reddin and Vlada Moran.

The workshop, part of the educational initiative Orgelkids, combined presentations on the instrument’s history and cultural significance with the assembly of a tabletop organ. Students learned how air, pipes, and keys work together to create music, gaining a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and complexity behind this iconic instrument.

By building and experimenting with a miniature organ themselves, students connected theory and practice, experiencing music history in a truly interactive way. This hands-on session offered not only insights into the pipe organ but also a memorable opportunity to engage with music in a creative and tangible form.
