A Bundestag delegation visited GISSV, engaging with school leaders and students on Deeper Learning and AI in education.
From August 18 to 25, 2024, a German Bundestag delegation from the Committee for Education, Research, and Technology Assessment visited Silicon Valley. The delegation included members of the German Bundestag: Ruppert Stüwe (Chair), Holger Mann (both SPD), Dr. Inge Gräßle (CDU/CSU), Maximilian Funke-Kaiser (FDP), and Barbara Benkstein (AfD).
In addition to attending the GAIN24 conference in San Francisco, the delegation engages in various discussions across Silicon Valley, including meetings with the chip manufacturer Nvidia and leading scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore.

During their visit, the delegation also stopped by GISSV in Mountain View on Tuesday, August 20. They met with our Head of School (Interim), Dr. Alexandra Blank, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Jenny Jungeblut, former Coordinator of Digital Lesson Development, Martin Lentzen, and high school students Kilian F. (class of 2025) and Mira K. (class of 2026). Martin Lentzen discussed the Deeper Learning concept at GISSV (for which GISSV won the prestigious "Auslandsschulwettbewerb"/ competition for schools abroad of the DIHK, the German Chamber of Commerce) and the integration of AI in the classroom. The students then showcased two of their group projects that involved AI applications. After an engaging discussion about education at German schools abroad and the future potential of AI in the classroom, the group continued to their next engagement.
Thank you for your visit!
