About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

  Our well-balanced program provides rich project-based and differentiated learning experiences, fostering interests across all subject areas as well as social-emotional competency, critical thinking, artistic expression and physical motor skills.

As we closed out the school year, our campuses were filled with joy, reflection, and celebration.

Summer break has officially begun!

As we wrapped up the 2024–25 school year, students across all grade levels marked the occasion with joy and enthusiasm. Class parties, end-of-year activities, and final projects brought everyone together to celebrate a year of learning, growth, and connection.

We’re especially proud of our graduates in Preschool & Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. Their hard work, determination, and achievements have inspired us all. Congratulations to each and every one of you—you’ve reached an important milestone, and we can’t wait to see what’s next on your journey!

Spotlight: Realschulabschluss

Congratulations to Franziska (Grade 10) on earning her Mittlerer Schulabschluss! After completing both written and oral exams in the final weeks of school, she officially received the Mittlere Reife, a recognized German Grade 10 diploma. As she leaves GISSV to begin the next chapter of her academic journey, we wish her every success!

In addition to the German International Abitur and the U.S. high school diploma, GISSV also offers the Realschulabschluss—a valued secondary school certificate awarded after Grade 10. We’re proud to support multiple academic pathways and celebrate the achievements of all our students.
