Diwali Celebrations at GISSV

Diwali Celebrations at GISSV

Both campuses marked the season of lights with creativity, learning, and community spirit.

This week, our campuses lit up with joy as we celebrated Diwali. In San Francisco, students and parents came together in front of the school on Monday morning. Students created colorful rangolis and drew candles, each paired with a kind note for someone special.

In Mountain View, several classes discussed the meaning and traditions of the festival. The 3rd graders welcomed a guest in class—Priya, a friend of their homeroom teacher—who shared insights about how Diwali is celebrated. Inspired by what they learned, students crafted vibrant lanterns to brighten the season of lights.

Adding to the significance of this year’s celebration, Diwali will be officially recognized as a state holiday in California starting in 2026.
