After attending the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival, GISSV students got the chance to talk to lead actor of 'Wet Dog' Doguhan Kabadayi.
Our SF Middle school students and MV 10th graders went to the SF Castro Theatre last Friday to attend the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival for a coming of age movie of the Youth 4 German Cinema program.
Presented by the Goethe-Institut San Francisco and the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival the festival's youth program included 'Mission Ulja Funk' as this year’s winning film, and 'Wet Dog' (Ein nasser Hund) as the runner-up, picked by a youth jury. Both films revolve around the theme of religion and tackle this sensitive subject in two entirely different ways.
Since our 10th graders missed the Q&A session in the theater last week, they were especially thrilled to get a surprise visit by 'Wet Dog' lead actor Doguhan Kabadayi yesterday. He - together with youth juror Geraldine Nadia Clausen Garcia - visited the class: Geraldine, who attends a PASCH school in Mexico, told the students about how she became a youth juror at Youth 4 German Cinema and the program - and Doguhan talked about his acting career, the movie and addressed topics such as racism and inequality. Thank you for the visit!
