Families Support Youth Program in Cape Town

GISSV families continue to support the Amy Foundation that runs afternoon activity programs in the poorest townships in Cape Town, South Africa.

Written by Music Director Marie-Louise Catsalis

Over the summer break, some of our dedicated elementary school choristers met weekly every Thursday morning to sing. In lieu of tuition, their families donated to the Amy Foundation that runs afternoon activity programs in the poorest townships in Cape Town, South Africa. We raised $1000! They have given us these handmade dolls in appreciation of our donations over the years. They will be on display in our office as soon as we reopen.

P.S. This is the message we received in reply:

You made our day!

We can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support for our work with the township’s most vulnerable youth. With your help we can plan for a better tomorrow, our goal is to make sure that the youth in our programmes are kept safe from the negative influences that plague our township – esp. with the Coronavirus which has  pushed the unemployment level through the roof.

Your generous donation will go a long way to helping us keep the youth off the street and fed! We are busy feeding close to 750 community members per day.

You continue to help us make a real difference in the lives of the youth we serve.

Thank you once again for your donation. It means the world to us!

Hopefully we will see you all back soon! Keep well and safe!

Together changing lives!

With gratitude,
Michelle Bagley
