As part of our gifted enrichment program, students tackled challenging math problems in a collaborative training led by a University of Bonn expert.
Our first Math Competition Training (Wettbewerbstraining) of the year brought together bright minds from Grades 3–7 at both the San Francisco and Mountain View campuses. As part of GISSV’s gifted enrichment program (Begabtenförderung), the students worked on advanced, thought-provoking problems designed to challenge and inspire.
The sessions were guided in person by teachers Lisa Kranzler (SF) and Sebastian Berk (MV), while the problems and structure of the training were provided online by an expert from the University of Bonn. A standout element of this Wettbewerbstraining is the mixed-age collaboration: older and younger students alike exchanged ideas and built solutions together in an environment that fostered teamwork, creativity, and deep mathematical thinking.
Among the participants were two particularly enthusiastic elementary students, and in the next session, students from Grade 3 will join the group, ensuring a well-rounded mix of students from Grades 3 through 7.
The next training session will take place at the end of May — we’re looking forward to more inspiring ideas and shared discoveries!
