From Hypercars to Flying Cars: The Future of Mobility

Grade 10 CS students explored the future of mobility at GABA NorCal’s event in Palo Alto, hearing from leaders at NASA, Alef Aeronautics, and more.

What does the future of transportation look like—incremental improvements in electric vehicles, or entirely new modes of travel above our roads?

Our Grade 10 Computer Science students recently explored this question firsthand at GABA NorCal’s event “Imagining the Future of Mobility” in Palo Alto. The evening brought together an exceptional lineup of speakers working at the forefront of aerospace, automotive innovation, and advanced engineering.

Among the featured guests was Sue Kaur, Lead Systems Engineer at NASA, who offered insights into complex systems design and aerospace engineering. Representing the emerging field of urban air mobility, Jim Dukhovny, CEO of Alef Aeronautics, shared his vision for road-capable flying cars.

The automotive innovation space was further represented by Len Forsch of Lucid Motors and Nikita Bridan, CEO of Oilstainlab, while Brenton Murray (former Tesla and Rivian engineer) moderated the discussion and connected the different perspectives shaping the future of mobility.

For students, the event was a direct bridge between classroom learning and real-world innovation. Ideas around programming, systems thinking, and engineering suddenly became visible in the work of companies actively building the next generation of transportation.

We thank GABA NorCal for an inspiring evening that brought the future of mobility to life.
