German Unity Day at San Francisco City Hall

GISSV joined the German-American community at San Francisco City Hall to celebrate German Unity Day and the longstanding connections between Germany and the Bay Area.

On October 3, Germany celebrates German Unity Day, commemorating the reunification of Germany in 1990.

The day before, Head of School Dr. Wolfram Schrimpf and Board President Shamala Hinrichsen represented GISSV at the raising of the German flag at San Francisco City Hall. They joined the German Consulate General and members of the German-American community to mark this important occasion and celebrate the enduring ties between Germany and the Bay Area.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as San Francisco proclaimed October 3 as German American Heritage & Friendship Day, recognizing the longstanding connections between Germany and the Bay Area.

As a German-American school community, we are proud to be part of these connections and to celebrate the cultural exchange, relationships, and shared history that bring our communities together.
