GISSV AI Shark Tank: Innovation in Action

GISSV students impressed industry experts with innovative AI-powered pitches at the AI Shark Tank.

The energy was electric at our Mountain View campus on Thursday, February 5, as students took the stage for GISSV’s AI Shark Tank. Hosted by Mubarak Mohamoud, Head of Economics and leader of the Entrepreneur Club, the event brought together students, families, and industry professionals to celebrate innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking.

With more than 90 supporters in attendance, the evening showcased a wide range of AI-powered app ideas. Students impressed the audience with confident presentations, clear problem-solving approaches, and forward-looking concepts that demonstrated how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world challenges.

A highlight of the evening was the feedback from our panel of parent “Sharks,” who shared their professional expertise and offered students valuable real-world perspectives:

The projects reflected two distinct pathways of innovation. Grade 10 students developed their visionary AI apps during an intensive AI Week, while Entrepreneur Club students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 worked on their ideas over time during club sessions—demonstrating impressive maturity, resilience, and collaboration.

This successful event was truly a team effort. Special thanks go to Jenny Jungeblut, Ivo Betten, and Martin Dillmann for their close collaboration during AI Week; to student teachers Valerie S. and Marlon S. for mentoring and supporting our young entrepreneurs as they refined their pitches; to our Head of School for opening the evening with inspiring remarks; and to Doris Lang for expertly facilitating the event and keeping everything running smoothly.

GISSV’s AI Shark Tank was a powerful reminder of what is possible when students are empowered to lead with emerging technology. The ideas shared that evening offered not only a glimpse into the future of innovation—but also into the confidence, curiosity, and creativity of our students today.
