About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

Our Head of School attended a special welcome event for Timo Werner, connecting GISSV with the world of professional soccer in Silicon Valley.

On Monday afternoon, our Head of School W.S. was invited to a welcome event at Apple Park in honor of Timo Werner, former German national team player and striker, who has recently joined the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer.

The gathering brought together club representatives, including head coach Bruce Arena, head coach of the San Jose Earthquakes and one of the most experienced coaches in U.S. soccer history, alongside regional leaders and members of the soccer community. The event highlighted the strong intersections of sport, leadership, and innovation in Silicon Valley.

Together with GISSV’s Head of Sports Department, Lorenz Reichenbach, there was a brief but very appreciated personal exchange with Timo Werner. He expressed openness to a possible future visit to GISSV and meeting with students, and the school would be delighted to welcome him.

GISSV is grateful to have been included in this special event and appreciates the opportunity to connect with inspiring figures from the international sports community. The school also extends its sincere thanks to the German Consulate General San Francisco for facilitating this invitation.

With the upcoming “German Night” match against Vancouver featuring Thomas Müller on May 9—and the FIFA World Cup approaching—GISSV extends its best wishes to Timo Werner for a successful start to his time in California.
