GISSV Community Spirit at its Best

GISSV Community Spirit at its Best

Over the summer, our caring, dedicated community consisting of families and staff continued to step up to support GISSV in new ways.

GISSV's Leadership team and parents from the Board of Directors had been meeting regularly to plan different opening scenarios for our school. We also had our Safety Group supporting the planning efforts, which included parent volunteers who had specific health expertise that was pertinent for this pandemic.

In preparation for when we can safely open the campuses, other parent volunteers jumped in to help bring one of the Safety Group's recommendations to life and build desk shields for our classrooms. A parent designed the dividers and, together with another GISSV father, lent his building skills to add those safety features to the first classroom on our Mountain View Campus. In just one day, they assembled 18 shields and finished all tool required steps for additional 18 desk shields.

Since last week, our first group of students on our Mountain View Campus - the children of essential workers - benefit from what was prepared in summer.

What wonderful examples of our community spirit! We are very grateful to all of our families for donating valuable time, creative talent, and heart to help make our school and community safe.
