About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

  Our well-balanced program provides rich project-based and differentiated learning experiences, fostering interests across all subject areas as well as social-emotional competency, critical thinking, artistic expression and physical motor skills.

  GISSV has campuses in Mountain View and San Francisco. We also connect our students to their local environment by exploring the cultural, natural, academic and entrepreneurial destinations the Bay Area has to offer.

  All GISSV programs are bilingual and based on the German curriculum of the state of Thuringia, which is known and respected for its well-rounded educational approach

GISSV Shark Tank Event 2025

Our Entrepreneurs Club’s Shark Tank event successfully continued under new leadership, with students showcasing impressive innovation.

Before winter break, our Entrepreneurs Club hosted an incredibly successful Shark Tank event at GISSV, leaving everyone buzzing with excitement! With over 100 attendees—including parents, students, and esteemed guests—the atmosphere was electric and filled with inspiration.

Teacher Mubarak Mohamoud was excited to share that all student pitches were outstanding! Each student demonstrated remarkable creativity and innovation, presenting unique ideas and real solutions to real-world problems. Their dedication and hard work were evident, and their brands achieved their goals brilliantly. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements!

A huge thank-you to our incredible "sharks"—Jo Ann Sison, Dirk Lueth, Lutz Finger, and Andrew Bright—for their invaluable contributions. Their guidance and mentorship were instrumental in helping students refine their pitches, ideas, and solutions, equipping them with the tools they needed to excel.

A special shout-out to Shark Tank co-founders, former GISSV teacher Martin Lentzen and former GISSV parent Dirk Lueth, for their vision and dedication in building this program, which has fostered entrepreneurial thinking at GISSV for the past eight years. Mr. Lentzen’s commitment to knowledge-sharing ensured a seamless transition, and we’re grateful for how Mubarak Mohamoud has carried this legacy forward, expanding on its strong foundation. We also sincerely appreciate Kilian Finger, who has co-led the club as a student-teacher for the past two years—his guidance and support have been invaluable to the students. Additionally, we want to recognize Jenny Jungeblut for her contributions, including co-creating the club’s AI project.

As Maya Angelou wisely said, “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” This event was a testament to our students' success—not only did they love what they did, but they also excelled at it.

Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported this event. Together, we’ve created a platform for young minds to thrive and achieve greatness!
