About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

Taking AI Learning to the Next Level: GISSV Students Join Presidential Challenge

GISSV students in Grades 10–12 took part in the 2026 Presidential AI Challenge, exploring the foundations of artificial intelligence and machine learning and receiving a Presidential Certificate in recognition of the school’s successful participation.

As artificial intelligence continues to transform the way we live, learn, and work, understanding how AI works—and how it can be used responsibly—is becoming increasingly important.

During the 2025/26 school year, GISSV students in Grades 10–12 took part in the 2026 Presidential AI Challenge, an opportunity to explore foundational concepts in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Through the Challenge, students went beyond simply using AI tools. They were introduced to key concepts and technologies behind AI and had the opportunity to think critically about how these technologies can be applied. The experience provided a foundation for understanding an increasingly important field and encouraged students to consider both the possibilities and challenges that come with the rapid development of AI.

The project was supported by GISSV Computer Science teachers Mr. Berk, Mr. Betten, and Dr. Ritter, who guided students throughout their participation and helped them engage with the material.

In recognition of GISSV’s successful participation, each teacher received a Presidential Certificate for their involvement in the 2026 Presidential AI Challenge.

The experience reflects GISSV’s commitment to preparing students for a changing world through technology, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. By exploring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, students are developing not only technical knowledge but also the ability to ask questions, evaluate new tools, and think thoughtfully about their impact on society.

We are proud of our students for embracing this opportunity to learn, explore, and engage with one of the most influential technologies shaping our future.
