Honoring Black History Through Music
In February, our student musicians dedicated their time to learning and performing powerful pieces in honor of Black History Month.
Through spirituals, blues, and iconic songs, they celebrated the resilience, creativity, and cultural contributions of Black artists.
As part of our Afternoon Activities program, students across multiple ensembles—from elementary strings to middle school orchestra—came together to bring these meaningful pieces to life:
- Lift Every Voice and Sing – MV & SF Combined Chamber Ensemble
- Kumbaya – Elementary Strings
- This Little Light of Mine – MV Elementary Choir
- Going Home – MV Grade 4 Strings
- Double Stop Blues – MV Grade 5 & 6 Strings
- Joshua Fit the Battle – Middle School Orchestra
