Honoring Día de los Muertos at GISSV

Honoring Día de los Muertos at GISSV

Our students celebrated Día de los Muertos with colorful altars, reflections on loved ones, and meaningful in-class activities.

Alongside Halloween celebrations, GISSV students also honored Día de los Muertos, a tradition that invites remembrance and reflection.

At our San Francisco campus, parent volunteers Blanca Rodriguez and Ilexa Nicolau — who have helped organize this celebration for several years — created a beautiful, colorful altar in the foyer. Students were invited to place photos of their loved ones who have passed away, creating a meaningful space to honor memories. The celebration concluded with a shared treat of Pan de Muerto.

Additionally, some classes at both Mountain View and San Francisco campuses held their own Día de los Muertos activities in class, exploring the tradition, creating artwork, and reflecting on the loved ones they wished to remember.

A heartfelt thank you to our parent volunteers, teachers, and students for making this tradition so meaningful. It was wonderful to see our GISSV community come together to celebrate and honor memories in this thoughtful way.
