“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sixty years later and Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech still holds the test of time, like a litmus test to the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

On Monday our nation’s schools will take Martin Luther King, Jr. Day off, not just to commemorate the person who believed tomorrow can be better than today, but to reflect on our history, and be inspired to change the social injustices that exist today.
MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech might be the best place to start, when reflecting on our nation’s history. It captures the social injustices of the time, but most importantly it underscores some of the problems that still exist today. Click here to read Dr. King’s speech in its entirety.
