Did you know that November is Native American Heritage Month? And the fourth Thursday of November is also known as the National Day of Mourning, an annual event organized by the United American Indians of New England to honor their indigenous ancestors and to recognize the treatment of indigenous people throughout history and worldwide.

The National Geographic has some suggested activities for grades 9-12 to initiate discussions about Native American history and the “First Thanksgiving”.
