Open-Air Movie Night: A Cultural Evening Under the Stars

Open-Air Movie Night: A Cultural Evening Under the Stars

The GISSV community gathered on our SF campus for a memorable outdoor movie night in partnership with the Goethe-Institut.

On Friday evening, the San Francisco campus of the German International School of Silicon Valley was transformed into an open-air movie theater. Families, friends, and staff gathered with blankets, camping chairs, and picnic-style snacks to enjoy a special screening of the award-winning German film Zu weit weg (Too Far Away).

Presented in partnership with the Goethe-Institut San Francisco, this event offered a unique opportunity to experience German-language cinema in a relaxed and family-friendly setting. The film, which tells the story of two young boys navigating friendship, loss, and displacement, resonated with viewers of all ages and sparked meaningful conversations.

Events like this one reflect GISSV’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community while celebrating cultural exchange and language learning beyond the classroom.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Alexander Behrmann, director of the Goethe-Institut San Francisco, for his support and collaboration in making this event possible.
