- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

School Cone Ceremonies 2024

Per German tradition, we welcomed our new first grade students with a school entry / "Schultüten" (school cone) ceremony on our GISSV campuses.

We're so happy you are here!

It was one event within a series of many at the onset of the school year, where our new Head of School (interim), Dr. Alexandra Blank, had a wonderful opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the community. Alongside Head of Elementary School, Gale Adams-Davis, President of the Board of Directors Shamala Hinrichsen, and Deputy Consul General Franciska Obermeyer, she greeted both students and parents.

But before school could start for our first graders, teachers Nadine Heckmann-Zakharov (in San Francisco), Ina Denis, and Julia Schloetter (both in Mountain View) handed over the very special school cones. These brightly decorated cones are filled with treats and school supplies, symbolizing joy and excitement as children embark on their educational journey.
