School Cone Ceremonies 2025

School Cone Ceremonies 2025

Per German tradition, we welcomed our new first grade students with a school entry / "Schultüten" (school cone) ceremony on our GISSV campuses.

Last Thursday on our San Francisco campus and Friday in Mountain View we welcomed our new first grade students. We’re so happy you are here!

At these events, part of the many celebrations kicking off the new school year, our Head of School Dr. Wolfram Schrimpf welcomed new and returning families together with Head of Elementary School Gale Adams-Davis, President of the Board Shamala Hinrichsen, and Deputy Consul General Franciska Obermeyer.

Before the first day of learning could begin, teachers Barbara Troy (San Francisco), Kathrin Schönberg and Annika Nitsche (Mountain View) presented the very special Schultüten: brightly decorated cones filled with treats and school supplies, symbolizing joy and excitement as children embark on their school journey.

If you listen closely in the background, you’ll hear songs sung first by Mountain View students and then by our Head of School himself—adding an extra special touch to the celebrations.
