About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

St. Nicholas Day Brings Joy and Tradition to GISSV

Students at GISSV celebrated the cherished German tradition of St. Nicholas Day with treats, songs, and a special visitor.

On Friday, December 6, the festive spirit of St. Nicholas Day filled the campuses of GISSV. This beloved German tradition, celebrated annually, brought delight to students across various grades.

In some Kibili (Preschool & Kindergarten) and Elementary School classes, children arrived to find their slippers or shoes magically filled with goodies. Meanwhile, St. Nicholas himself made a special visit to campus. Excited students warmly welcomed him, sharing songs and poems in exchange for small gifts. The joy on their faces and the festive atmosphere reminded everyone of the season's spirit of generosity and community.

St. Nicholas Day, a tradition rooted in honoring the patron saint of children and the needy, celebrates kindness and giving. By incorporating these customs into the school day, GISSV continues to connect its students with cultural heritage while creating lasting memories. Frohen Nikolaus!
