About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

German Cinema at Berlin & Beyond Film Festival

GISSV students attended a special Youth 4 German Cinema screening, where they watched the jury-winning youth film with an insightful Q&A with a head actress.

On Friday, March 28, GISSV students from grades 7/8 (San Francisco) and 11 (Mountain View) took part in the Youth 4 German Cinema screenings at the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival. They watched Winners (2025), a film by Soleen Yusef, which was selected by the festival’s youth jury. The thought-provoking film and the engaging Q&A session left a lasting impression on the students.

A special highlight of the day was meeting actress Sherine Ciara Merai, who plays Jasmin in the film. Students from 7c and 8c had the unique opportunity to take a group photo with her, the youth jury, festival director Sophoan Sorn, and representatives from the Goethe-Institut.

Youth 4 German Cinema is an educational initiative by the Goethe-Institut’s Step Into German youth portal and the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival. It connects middle and high school students with contemporary German films and filmmakers, fostering cultural exchange through cinema.
