Winner at National French Contest/Le Grand Concours

Congratulations to Anna P. (8b) who received the platinum medal and taking 1st place in the US in her category!

This is the 4th time the school has received this award - with the same French teacher: Congratulations Céline Schapeler!

From the 57 participating students in grades 7-12, 52 received a certificate or a medal in the 2021 contest, meaning 91% of the participants were honored, which is certainly an excellent result:

  • 23 received certificates (50%-74% correct answers)
  • 8 bronze medals (75%-84%)
  • 11 silver medals (85%-94%)
  • 9 gold medals (95%-99%)
  • 1 platinum medal (100%)

Le Grand Concours is a national French contest sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). GISSV students from the French classes in Grade 7 to 12 participate every year. Students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a written test and compete against students with similar educational background for prizes. 29,513 students from public and private schools in the United States participated at the Grand concours last year.
