About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

SF Elementary Art Showcase Celebrates Young Artists

Students in Grades 1–4 proudly shared a year of artistic exploration with family and friends during a joyful community celebration.

What a wonderful Saturday morning! Our 2026 SF Elementary Art Showcase brought together students, families, teachers, and friends for a special celebration of creativity, learning, and community.

Students from Grades 1–4 proudly presented their artwork to family and friends, guiding visitors through the exhibition and sharing the ideas, techniques, and inspiration behind their creations. Each student received a personalized roadmap to help lead guests through the showcase, encouraging conversations about the creative process and the stories behind each piece.

Throughout the school year, students explored the work of artists including Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Keith Haring, Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Rousseau, Katsushika Hokusai, Claude Monet, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and Marc Chagall, among many others. Their influence could be seen throughout the exhibition, while each student brought their own imagination, personality, and artistic voice to every project.

The event also featured games, a community potluck, and plenty of opportunities for families to connect and celebrate the accomplishments of our young artists. The delicious food and warm atmosphere helped make the morning especially memorable.

A special thank you goes to Zahar Manzoori and DWIH San Francisco for generously hosting the event. We are also deeply grateful to our parent volunteers for their support before, during, and after the showcase, and to everyone who contributed to the potluck.

The showcase was organized and curated by teacher Nadine Heckmann-Zakharov, who brought together artwork from across the Elementary School and created an engaging exhibition experience for students and families alike. We would also like to thank Tina Huhnke for her contribution as Grade 4 Art teacher and for supporting and encouraging our young artists throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a joyful celebration of creativity. Seeing our students share their work with such pride was the perfect reminder of the power of art to inspire confidence, curiosity, and connection.
