Beyond the Classroom

Learning That Extends Into the Real World

At GISSV, learning extends beyond academic subjects. Students regularly engage in experiences that connect classroom knowledge with the real world, foster curiosity, and build independence.

These experiences are an essential part of a well-rounded education from Preschool through Grade 12.

Experiential Learning

Students learn through direct engagement with real-world contexts, including:

  • Guest speakers and experts in the classroom
  • Field trips and educational outings across the Bay Area
  • Project days and annual project weeks
  • Hands-on, collaborative learning experiences

Why Learning Beyond the Classroom Matters

These experiences help students:

  • Connect academic learning to real-world contexts
  • Develop confidence, adaptability, and independence
  • Strengthen intercultural understanding
  • Experience learning as active and meaningful

Student Exchange

GISSV offers student exchange opportunities with partner schools in Dresden, Valparaíso, Bordeaux, and other international locations.

These programs allow students to:

  • Attend school abroad and experience different education systems
  • Stay with host families and engage in daily cultural life
  • Welcome visiting students from partner schools to GISSV
  • Strengthen language skills through real-life communication

Exchange experiences build cultural understanding, independence, and global awareness.
