Both San Francisco and Mountain View 5th and 6th graders presented their reading skills at our Reading Contest on Tuesday.
The finalists of our annual German reading contest took the stage at the GISSV Mountain View campus. In the first round, the students received a text picked by the organizers and for the second round they presented a book of their choice and read a few pages from the story. A jury of parents, teachers and 10th graders had the challenging task of rating the performances.
Congratulations to the winners:
1st place: Summer W. (6a)
2nd place: Tobias V. (6b)
3rd place: Anna B. (6d) und Sonia K.Q. (5a)
Side Note: Researchers confirm independently that reading aloud promotes concentration, empathy, reduces aggression and promotes language development, especially vocabulary and expressiveness.
