Hazardous Winds force cancellation of German Holiday Market.
With extremely heavy hearts—and tears— we regret that safety requires us to cancel the German Holiday Market this Saturday. The National Weather Service forecasts winds in excess of 45 mph—wind speeds that can take out trees—on Saturday. Rain, we can handle, no problem. However, with our village of tents and facades, the wind presents genuine hazards to which we cannot expose our community or the public.
GISSV students, parents, teachers, staff and friends looks forward each year to presenting the German Holiday Market to you, our greater community. This year, the trucks were loaded, students' songs rehearsed, sweets purchased, sausages delivered, rolls baked, and more. The losses for GISSV are tremendous. We are a nonprofit school and we are extremely grateful for your support. Donations to help GISSV cover some of its losses are fully tax deductable. Thank you!

Every year, GISSV welcomes 10,000+ visitors from all over the San Francisco Bay Area to its cozy German Holiday Market in Mountain View.
The German Holiday Market recreates the jovial atmosphere of a traditional open-air, European winter market at Mountain View's Caltrain Station. Shop for unique, handcrafted gifts from Germany and local artisans: Wood ornaments and nutcrackers from Germany, Lebkuchen (gingerbread), Stollen, chocolate, toys, ceramics, and knitwear. Taste traditional German sausages and pretzels and warm up with a mug of Glühwein (warm mulled wine), the hallmark of these winter markets. The German Holiday Market offers plenty of activities for the entire family, including live performances and arts and crafts.
We are pleased to announce admission to the event this year is free, there are no tickets and no vaccination record checks. Masks are encouraged but not required.
You are invited to step into Germany for a day, come enjoy this seasonal celebration!
Avoid the traffic! Conveniently located at the Mountain View Transit Center, take the train, light rail or one of many buses to the doorstep of this German village - just like in Europe!
