About
- Welcome to GISSV
  The German International School of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit preschool–grade 12 school with two locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Learning in German and English
  Our high-quality dual-immersion education helps students reach their full potential in a stimulating environment that fosters critical and imaginative thinking, a passion for lifelong learning and an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Admissions
- Meeting Students’ Needs From Preschool Through High School
  GISSV welcomes students of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We serve students from two to eighteen years old.
- Enrollment
  The enrollment period begins during the months of January and February of each year for the upcoming school year. We also accept new students throughout the school year based on availability. Knowledge of the German language is required for all children who enroll after 1st grade (See also our German Fast Track Program).

  Our well-balanced program provides rich project-based and differentiated learning experiences, fostering interests across all subject areas as well as social-emotional competency, critical thinking, artistic expression and physical motor skills.

German Holiday Market - Weihnachtsmarkt 2023

The Holiday Market is returning to its original location at Mountain View City Hall Plaza in downtown Mountain View.

Every year, GISSV welcomes 15,000+ visitors from all over the San Francisco Bay Area to its cozy German Holiday Market in Mountain View.

The German Holiday Market recreates the jovial atmosphere of a traditional open-air, European winter market at Mountain View's Caltrain Station. Shop for unique, handcrafted gifts from Germany and local artisans: Wood ornaments and nutcrackers from Germany, Lebkuchen (gingerbread), Stollen, chocolate, toys, ceramics, and knitwear. Taste traditional German sausages and pretzels and warm up with a mug of Glühwein (warm mulled wine), the hallmark of these winter markets. The German Holiday Market offers plenty of activities for the entire family, including live performances and arts and crafts.

We are pleased to announce admission to the event is free, there are no tickets and no vaccination record checks. Masks are encouraged but not required.

You are invited to step into Germany for a day, no passport needed. Come enjoy this seasonal celebration!
