My mother was a German citizen and my father was an American Army officer, who was stationed in Berlin. I was raised in both languages, speaking German with my mother, friends, family, and relatives, and English with my father. I attended the Rudolf Steiner Schule, where I finished my Abitur (German High School Diplom). I studied theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. I have worked with children of all ages, teaching and tutoring in both languages. I worked as a tutor at the German-American John F. Kennedy School in Berlin while my own children were attending the school.
