Our San Francisco Kibili and Elementary School students came together on Thursday, May 25 to walk or run for a meaningful cause on the field next to our campus!

Our Class 9b, also known as the LabClass, has actively participated in a wide range of interdisciplinary projects throughout the school year.

GISSV students and teachers visited HPI, discussing AI, education reinvention, and potential collaborations, with the students' startup pitches receiving enthusiasm for possible participation in the incubator program.

April is Earth Month, and to celebrate, GISSV San Francisco organized a special Walk to School Day and participated in San Francisco's city-wide bike and roll to school week.

Our GISSV Mountain View Walk-a-Thon on Friday, March 30 was a huge success (and it was a fantastic prelude to our Spring Break)!

Last week in our BeSO (Career and Study Orientation) class, we had the pleasure of welcoming GISSV alumnus Kai Bajka (class of 2016).

The students attended the world’s largest and most prestigious Model UN conference for secondary school students in New York City.

After attending the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival, GISSV students got the chance to meet lead actor of "The Ordinaries" Noah Tinwa. 

We are pleased to announce that GISSV was awarded as a Smart School for the first time this year.

Do you remember a time in American history when women weren't allowed to get a higher education? An idea that’s inconceivable today. Unfortunately, in December 2022 Afghanistan banned women again from attending school beyond 6th grade.

The German bestselling author read from her home in Bavaria for our middle school students in Mountain View and San Francisco. Reading encouragement at its best!

GISSV spearheaded the Sharks German Night at the SAP Center in San Jose on March 16, bringing together the Bay Area German community for a fun night of hockey!

The students attend the German Startup Night 2023, a pitch and networking event celebrating German startups.

The fall sports season came to an end with the last practices concluding the week before our Thanksgiving break.

Before Fall Break students from our Mountain View 7th and 8th grades attended a high quality music workshop.

It was a pleasure to take part in the German Day in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, October 16.

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming writer and poet Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond at our San Francisco Campus.

We took part in the city-wide Walk and Bike/Roll to School Day for the very first time at our SF Castro Campus on Wednesday, May 4! 

We had the pleasure to welcome the Education Committee of the Bavarian Parliament on our Mountain View Campus.

Students and teachers from both campuses had a blast dancing, taking pictures at the photo booth, and eating shaved ice at our summer beach party.

Our first in person community night at the 'Sharks Tank' was a great success!

On International Women’s Day, journalist Marie-Astrid Langer talked to our 11th and 12th graders about Kamala Harris.

Both San Francisco and Mountain View 7th graders met for an Anti-Drug Day to learn about the physical, mental, and social effects of drug abuse.

We celebrated International Women's Day on both our campuses yesterday with a variety of activities.

For the Women's Day event we welcomed special guest Beate Antonich and inspiring speaker Caterina Mandel.

GISSV's MUN Club attended the Seventieth Session of Berkeley Model United Nations, which was held from March 4- 6, 2022.

Organized by GISSV's Green Team, students from grades 5-10 help clean up MV Whisman Park and the middle school alley.

GISSV San Francisco students and parents collected over 400 lbs of food, which was delivered to the SF Marin Food Bank.

Students of classes 9 - 12 took part in the Lange Nacht der Mathematik for the very first time at GISSV last Friday.

GISSV, together with five other German Schools Abroad, was honored as “MINT-friendly school” (MINT is the German equivalent for STEM) in 2021.

At our Entrepreneurs club, students learn to iterate rapidly to develop their ideas. Rapid iteration and inventiveness were certainly needed in the last school year and in our club, too.

Middle and High School students have been invited to a special screening at Berlin & Beyond - In Focus.

To help families at risk of going hungry this holiday season the students at the GISSV San Francisco Campus participated in a collection drive for their local SF-Marin Food Bank.

US Speedskating athletes and Olympic hopefuls Erin Jackson and Kimi Goetz joined our Soaring Eagle Fitness Class.

GISSV had the distinct honor to celebrate the impressive milestone of Colonel Halvorsen's life (in coordination with the Halvorsen family) and his timely message of hope.

On Friday, October 2, we had an exceptional online event to celebrate this momentous occasion. Thank you to guest speaker: eyewitness Mario Röllig!

GISSV families continue to support the Amy Foundation that runs afternoon activity programs in the poorest townships in Cape Town, South Africa.

Being in Distance Learning for a few months Vice HoS Jenny Jungeblut reflected on the learnings of this experience and the opportunities it brings for improvement and development back in the classroom - as well as life after the pandemic in general.

The GISSV elves did it once again - they transformed Downtown Mountain View into an European village for our annual German Holiday Market.

Students and Parents of our San Francisco Campus once again decorated a Christmas tree for the annual Deck the Hall event at the San Francisco Symphony.

Among teachers, staff, parents, and classes, both from Mountain View and San Francisco, GISSV donated 70 gifts to families in need.

Last Monday our San Francisco school community came together to celebrate the holiday season with a student concert and sing-along in the Presidio Chapel.

On Tuesday our newly formed girls' "Black" team of the GISSV Eagles had their first game against a powerful opponent.

The "Gold" team of the GISSV Middle School Lady Eagles Soccer Team(s) had their first - and successful - game of the season last Wednesday with a 6:2 win.

In collaboration with the German Consulate General we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall with a special event on our Mountain View Campus last Friday.

We were pleased to open the doors for a 'sneak preview' on our new Castro campus in San Francisco. 

The official German Schools Abroad (DAS) in the US and Canada together created a new joint website.

We are excited and proud to share that GISSV received the official Seal of Excellence with outstanding results!

On the occasion of the German Unity Day the German flag was raised at the San Francisco City Hall.
